The hoop itself has a diameter of 17.7", which corresponds to the official size used in professional matches, and is made of 3" thick steel, which ensures high strength and long durability - even with hard dunks and intensive training. The net is made of durable polyester, which holds up well to outdoor use and various weather conditions. The backboard measures 120 x 80 cm and is made of PET with a reinforced iron frame, which provides a good rebound effect and a realistic playing experience.

The construction consists of three strong steel tubes with a diameter of 76 mm, which provides a robust and stable stand that does not wobble during play. The base of the basket measures 47" x 28" x 8" and is made of impact-resistant PE plastic, which is blow-molded for extra durability. The base can be filled with up to 240 lbs of water, which gives the basket impressive stability - even during high-intensity games or in windy weather.

How high is a basketball hoop?

The official height of a basketball hoop – used in both the NBA, FIBA and sports halls – is 305 cm (10 feet) from the ground to the top of the ring. This height is suitable for players from about 11 years of age and up, and is the standard for teenagers, adults and competitive games.

For younger children, there are adjustable hoops and mini basketball hoops, which can typically be adjusted from about 150 cm (59") to 260 cm (100"), making it easier for the little ones to hit the hoop and build confidence in the game.

How big is the backboard on a basketball hoop?

The backboard is available in several sizes, depending on the level and space available:

A professional backboard used in halls and for competitions measures 180 cm (72") wide x 105 cm (42") high.

For home training and play, a backboard of 110-130 cm (43-50") is often sufficient.

For children and beginners, there are smaller backboards starting at about 80 cm (31.5") wide.

Larger backboards make it easier to hit the ring from angles, and are therefore an advantage if you are practicing layups, shots close to the basket or three-point shots.
